Asus Chromebook Flip C433 C433TA-AS384T Review And Specification

Our preferred convertible Chromebook has seen yet another upgrade. And things have only grown better. The new Asus Chromebook Flip C433 (C433TA-AS384T model in our review) significantly outperforms its predecessor, the Chromebook Flip C302CA from last year, thanks to a larger display, longer battery life, and improved performance.

The Chromebook Flip C433 also sports a sleek aluminum shell and a 14-inch monitor that is bright and durable while being housed in a 13-inch body. As a result, you won't notice it's heavier when carrying it around, and the long battery life will let you to use it for the entirety of a day at work or school, and possibly longer.

One of the greatest Chromebooks we've ever reviewed is the result of the majority of the new upgrades. Additionally, the Asus Chromebook Flip C433 is among the greatest laptops available in this price range, Chromebook or not.

Design

If you were to look at the Chromebook Flip C433, you could think it was one of Asus' more expensive ZenBook ultrabooks. I can't think of any other laptops under $500 that look as gorgeous as the Flip C433, which has a matte-silver aluminum finish with a chrome trim.

The sides and bottom bezels of the 14-inch FHD display are scarcely noticeable, and the upper bezel is somewhat larger to make room for the webcam. Although we've seen similar design before, the Flip C433 is unquestionably one of the smallest 14-inch laptops we've examined, with a screen-to-body ratio of 87%.

The Chromebook C433 doesn't have many ports due to its extremely small body, yet it nevertheless has all the necessary features. On the left side, there is a USB 3.1 Type-A port, a USB-C port, and a headphone jack; on the right, there is a second USB-C port and a microSD card slot. You may plug in from either side of the C433TA-AS384T's dual USB-C ports, which both support charging.

Display

As already said, the 14-inch, 1080p touch screen of the Flip C433 appears clear and vibrant, which is nice. While the Chromebook x2 (115%) and Chromebook Pro (119%) have more bright screens, the Chromebook Flip C433's panel is more vibrant than its predecessor, the Chromebook 302CA (76%), and the typical Chromebook (82%). It covers 93% of the sRGB color gamut.

Similar to other displays, the Flip C424's display is around average in terms of brightness. The Flip C302CA's display shines brighter than the Chromebook Pro's (376 nits), Chromebook x2's (403 nits), and the typical Chromebook's (235 nits) displays, which all have higher peak brightness ratings.

Although the Flip C433 has a tiny footprint for a 14-inch laptop, it is fairly hefty as a tablet. However, the touchscreen is precise.

Keyboard and Touchpad

Although the C433TA-AS384T's island-style, backlit keyboard only has 1.3 millimeters of key travel (we prefer anything from 1.5 to 2mm), it is acceptable and provides a good typing experience.  The individual keys have a good amount of spacing between them and a satisfying tactile click thanks to their actuation force of 71 grams (up from a meager 49 grams on the Flip 302CA).

A 4.1 x 2.4-inch touchpad is located below the keyboard, and it reacts quickly to swipes and taps as you browse the internet. Using Chrome OS movements like pinch-to-zoom and two-finger swipes to switch between pages won't cause any issues either.

Batteries' Life

With a runtime of 9 hours, 56 minutes, the new Flip C433 surpasses the already decent (8:54) runtime of its predecessor. The lengthier category average (9:04) and the runtimes of the Chromebook Pro (8:05) and Chromebook x2 (8:51) are both higher than that.
