Asus L510MA-DS0 Review And Specification

For the same price as a basic Chrome OS device, the Asus L510MA-DS04 is a low-cost Chromebook substitute that provides a full Windows 10 (S Mode) experience. This outstanding entry-level notebook for learners and students serves as another evidence of why Asus is one of the brands with the fastest overall growth in the laptop market.

From the lightweight body shell to the respectable 10+ hour battery and the respectable 15.6-inch screen, it's a clever blend of features. A terrific basic PC for a learner to use at home and at school, or a college student researching and writing projects, is created when you combine that with a slim profile and a well constructed 180° lay-flat hinge, something uncommon in entry level laptops.

Asus L510MA-DS04 design

The Asus L510MA's entire body is made of plastic, but the lid has a thick layer that looks and feels better than the Asus VivoBook L203MA's flimsy plastic, which couldn't withstand being pushed around in a classroom. Even with the heavier layer, it is still only 2.31 pounds and 0.67 inches thick, making it rather portable. The fanless CPU and eMMC storage both reduce weight and improve portability of the unit.

But the 15-inch display is sufficiently bright for us. Its FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution and matte finish make it a suitable option for working outside. If you're shopping for word editing or online browsing, this is a colorful option that also works well for photographs and videos.

A variety of ports are available, including USB 2.0, USB 3.2, USB Type-C, HDMI, an audio jack combo, and a micro-SD card slot. An integrated webcam on the upper bezel and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) provide wireless communication. You can dock all of your peripherals using any of these ports.

Keyboard & Touchpad

A number pad is located on the right side of the primary keyboard of the Asus laptop L510MA. While a number pad on a budget laptop may not be useful for everyone, it's a terrific addition for people studying math, science, and business.

The keyboard, however, is rather simple, with very light keys and minimal tactile feedback. The Enter key alone, which is luminous yellow, adds a small touch of elegance to the otherwise basic deck.

Performance of the Asus L510MA-DS04

Expectations for Intel Celeron processors are typically low, but since the performance of today's Celerons is on par with that of yesterday's i3 CPUs, we can't really ask for more. While the Celeron N4020 is a small improvement over the base 4000 model with additional cache, multimedia editing and gaming will still be a bit of a stretch.

With 4GB RAM, 128GB eMMC storage, and an Intel UHD Graphics 600 processor, this fanless CPU is rated as a mid-range mobile processor. For office programs, web browsing, and the basic games, of course, this is sufficient. The Asus TUF FX505GT-AB73, which has a dedicated Nvidia GTX 1650 graphics card, is a good option for cheap gaming.

Again, as long as you're not simultaneously launching dozens of windows, the Asus L510MA will handle the basics of running two or three programs. Although the 128GB storage is quite sparse, it is twice as much as the 64GB storage found on the majority of Chromebooks and rival Windows 10 notebooks.

A battery's Life

The low power fanless CPU and the screen's low resolution all significantly reduce power consumption. You get 11 hours of battery life from our review unit's mid-size battery if you use it sparingly. That's really great.
