Lacking a lot of extra cash yet in need of a working laptop? If that describes you, you may take comfort in knowing that the HP Chromebook 14 will work well for you. Although it isn't particularly powerful, it will take care of your basic needs, including web access, easy document creation and editing, and Netflix and YouTube viewing.

With an Intel Celeron N4000 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of eMMC storage, and a 14-inch HD (1,366 X 768) display, the HP Chromebook 14a-na0021nr starts off reasonably priced. As long as you stick to fundamental chores, it's a terrific first laptop for work, home, school, and pretty much anything else in between.

It's true that this Chromebook is one of the few having B&O tuned speakers. Not only is it a cheap laptop, but it also has a highly distinctive appearance. Does that make it advantageous enough to justify spending money on it? In this review of the HP Chromebook 14a-na0021nr, we'll find out.

This is now how a budget should be. Nicely.

The ceramic white chassis of the Chromebook 14's beautiful design makes it stand out in a crowd. A second "Chromebook" logo is embossed on the far left tip of the lid, which has a rough texture and an embossed HP logo in the center. White keys, a brushed white deck, and speakers on either side of the keyboard greet you as you open the lid.

Yes, a part of me concerns that this machine will eventually seem soiled, especially given that it is intended for children and the k–12 market. However, the white surfaces are a welcome change from the generally found on cheap notebooks black or gray chassis.

The Chromebook 14 weighs 3.2 pounds and measures 0.7 inches thick, making it heavier than the Asus Chromebook Flip C434 (2.90 pounds) but lighter than the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5 (2.97 pounds).

The port selection is decent yet simple. The USB Type-C port and a charging port are located on the Chromebook 14's left side, while the USB 3.0 and USB Type-C ports are located on the right side. Just that.

The HP Chromebook 14a-na0021nr has a 14-inch HD (1,366 X 768) resolution display, which is to be expected from a laptop with such a low price tag. Although the 14-inch panel isn't exceptionally brilliant or colorful, it nevertheless looks decent because to its thin top and side bezels, especially when compared to Chromebooks from rival manufacturers.

The elaborate decorations in princess Jasmine's gown may be seen in the live-action trailer for the Aladdin movie. Additionally, the dull panel makes it difficult to see details in some of the darker desert landscapes. However, taking everything into account, the image quality is rather outstanding.

Touchpad and keyboard

HP Chromebook 14 14a-na0021nr Design

The keyboard on the Chromebook 14 is excellent and comfortable to use even without backlighting. The white, chiclet-style keys are broad and evenly spaced, with the exception of a few tiny arrow keys. Individual keys feel springy despite having only 1.2 millimeters (less than our preferred 1.5mm), possibly because of their above-average 71 grams of actuation force.

The 4.5 x 2.3-inch touchpad on the Chromebook 14a-na0021nr reacts quickly to swipes across several Google Chrome tabs, and you won't have any trouble using some Chrome OS gestures, such moving between pages with a three-finger swipe.

A Battery's Life

The HP Chromebook 14 is advertised as having a 13-hour battery life, however you only get about 9 hours and 38 minutes of continuous use at 150 nits of brightness. That equates to practically a full day of work or school without the laptop requiring a power outlet. It surpasses the standard for Chromebooks (9:10) and destroys the Acer Chromebook 15 (9:07).
