Every student needs a reliable laptop for school, but for those on a tight budget, some of these devices might be too pricey. Both most Chromebooks and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 81VU0079US are inexpensive alternatives that target this market.

The 81VU0079US can be characterized as "very usable" if you simply intend to use the IdeaPad 1 for elementary home, office, and academic tasks.

Its specs make it suited for simple computing operations including online browsing, Microsoft Office programs, playing music and movies, and other related activities. Of course, there are a few superior options you should take into account; we'll detail them in this review.

Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14 (81VU0079US) Design

An entry-level laptop with a straightforward design that should work well for most people is the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 81VU0079US. With the exception of the Ice Blue hue, there is nothing particularly striking about the laptop, but we enjoy the simplicity it exudes. The plastic chassis is lovely and strong, so carrying it to lectures and study rooms frequently shouldn't cause any problems.

There are still enough ports for your peripherals and other digital devices despite the lack of USB-C and other basic connectivity options. You receive 2 Type-A 3s.One HDMI port, two USB ports, an audio combo jack, and an SD card reader are all included. I'm done now.

It depends on your expectations and demands whether the 14-inch screen's maximum resolution of 1366 x 768 (HD) is a strong point for this laptop. Although the contrast and brightness are both below category average, they are nevertheless extremely useable for routine jobs like working with spreadsheets and papers.

The Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R14K, which has a full HD resolution and improved overall screen brightness, would be a better option if you plan on doing serious photo and video editing.

Touchpad and keyboard

Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14 (81VU0079US) Keyboard

The IdeaPad 1's keyboard is arguably its best feature. It has a pleasing clicky sound that seems just right and isn't too loud, a crisp and tactile feel, and reasonably nice travel for a laptop this cheap. The IdeaPad 1 81VU0079US should be ideal for this since students will need to utilize this laptop to take notes in class and conduct library research.

Even though a laptop in this price range should have a larger touchpad, this one is adequate and functions nicely. The mouse clicks do have a cheap feel to them, but overall it works well and seems trustworthy.

A Battery's Life

Great battery life. You can use a full charge for up to 7 to 8 hours while web browsing, streaming video, and word processing. It's especially useful for students who need to take notes in class without needing to bring a charger that a cheap laptop can last all day long.
