Gigabyte G5 KC-5US1130SH Review And Specification

Gigabyte G5 KC-5US1130SH Review And Specification

The Gigabyte G5 KC-5US1130SH is a capable laptop with good specifications and a fast refresh rate that excels in Full HD gaming. The Gigabyte G5 is one of the few portables of this type with a battery that can be removed without the use of any tools, which makes it stand out for its upgradeability.

With the release of the KC-5US1130SH, it appears like Gigabyte has finally realized that gaming laptops have started to eschew their prior hefty design in favor of lighter, more portable ones.  An Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card has been added to the redesigned exterior to power the newest AAA games, and the already stunning 144Hz display packs a punch in competitive gaming.

Sadly, an 11th generation CPU has not been added, although the powerful Intel Core i5-10500H is still included. You get a laptop that can handle practically anything when you combine that processor with Nvidia's most recent GPU offering. The Gigabyte G5 KC-5US1130SH is a great option for 1080p gaming, provided you're not seeking for a device that's ideal for both professional creative jobs, education, and work.

Design – Case with replaceable battery

The G5 gaming laptop isn't particularly attractive. The single illumination over its keyboard is faint enough so as not to provide a significant contribution to the aesthetic of the device's chassis, which is primarily composed of a dull grey color scheme. Although the strong plastic used throughout the case is typical for laptops in the middle price range, aluminum cases have been found in high-end gaming laptops.

Even so, the case has no flex and the build quality is good. The replacement battery at the bottom, which can be taken out without the use of any tools, must be a design highlight. All you have to do is unlock the lock and then put in a new battery. The base must be completely opened to change the battery and other components in rival gaming laptops like the Acer Predator Helios 300 and Acer Nitro 5.

Other practical facets of the Gigabyte G5 KC maintain its impressive performance. It contains two USB-A 3.1 ports, two HDMI ports, a USB-C port that supports mini-DisplayPort, a standalone DisplayPort 1.4 port, Ethernet, microphone and headphone connections, and an SD card reader. You shouldn't see too much cable congestion because some of the interfaces are located on the rear.

A Vibrant, 144Hz Panel for The Display

The Gigabyte G5 KC doesn't come in a 4K version; after all, it's a mid-range gaming laptop designed for people who place a premium on performance. Its extremely durable Full HD 15.6-inch screen has a 144Hz refresh rate and all the necessary hardware to ensure that most games can take advantage of this feature. This Gigabyte gaming laptop is a superb option if you require rock-solid frame rates for contemporary competitive games.

Even when playing AAA games that are very taxing, like GTA V and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the 144Hz refresh screen manages to deliver a crisp and vibrant image without breaking a sweat. The tiny design, in our opinion, doesn't have enough space to fully take advantage of 4K, but it does provide the Gigabyte gaming G5 more headroom for 1080p gaming, which it handles without any issues.

Devices for input that have good backlighting

The KC-5US1130SH comes with a straightforward backlit keyboard that delivers clear feedback and is ideally suited for prolonged typing sessions, unlike its high-end siblings like the Gigabyte Aorus 17G, which boasts a great mechanical keyboard. Notably, the keyboard lighting uses uniform illumination of the key labels; users can choose colors from a predefined palette but cannot change the colors themselves.

The arrow keys are conventional size, and the keyboard contains a full-sized numeric keypad. Notably, the keyboard doesn't feature many keys with dual functionalities because the majority of the special keys on the deck are available as single keys.

The touchpad is a sizable pad with two distinct buttons. It functions nicely as a mouse pointer and responds well to swipes. However, the touchpad's reaction is a little slow in comparison to competitors, especially when mouse clicks are activated by touch. The two mouse buttons are nevertheless easily and noisily activated, despite having a little mild feedback.

A Battery's Life

In actual tests, the Gigabyte G5 KC's battery life averaged 3: 39 hours, which is shorter than that of rival gaming laptops. It manages to surpass the 3:21 gaming laptop category average. However, it might have been much worse because extremely powerful gaming laptops often have a battery life of roughly 2.5 hours.

Although it won't last on a cross-country journey, the Helios 300 nit should be adequate as long as you're near three hours of a charging outlet.
