Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 (82HG0006US) Review And Specification

Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 (82HG0006US) Review And Specification

In actuality, having cash on hand is the most important requirement for purchasing the new Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3. It's a damn bargain, this. The price of the 82HG0006US model under consideration allows for some wiggle room in terms of day-to-day use expectations.

Which is unfortunate because a laptop this cheap can't help but have a few flaws. The Flex 3's 11-inch display, which is not the best quality but you can't have everything at this price point, is the most evident.

However, the Flex 3 boasts a lovely snow white shell, a respectable battery life, and even an SD card port to add to the 64GB of internal storage.

A 2-in-1 convertible, with a Screen on Tap

The Flex 3 Chromebook is a 2-in-1 convertible that can be set up in tent mode on a desk or used as a regular laptop. Since its keyboard can be folded fully beneath the screen, it can also be used as a kind of tablet PC.

The adaptability of the Flex 3 is justified by Google's recent significant enhancements to the Chrome operating system to make it more compatible with touch screens on tablets and 2-in-1s.
The Lenovo 82HG0006US is a well-built and attractive laptop, but it is not the smallest 11-inch Chromebook on the market and has some extra weight. The complete Chromebook is 2.64 pounds light and dimensions 0.7 by 11.4 by 8.4 inches (HWD). It can compete with 13-inch ultraportable computers that cost anywhere from $1,000 to more with these specs. For instance, the Google Pixelbook Go measures 0.4 by 11.4 by 8.7 inches and weighs 2.4 pounds.

But…the Screen is Cramped and Dim

The screen is there. Think again if you're wondering why Lenovo is selling such an opulent piece of hardware at a reasonable asking price. The Flex 3's small, dark 11.6-inch HD display is the biggest tradeoff. You can touch it, yes, but the 720p resolution and 250 nits are far lower than the 1080p we consider sufficient for low-cost laptops.

The little, dark screen is surrounded by enormous, thick black bezels, as if it weren't already tiny enough. Given that the majority of contemporary laptops have extremely small bezels that can often be challenging to discern at first sight, they give the laptop a less-than-appealing early-2000s aesthetics when you open it.

Comfortable Keyboard and Good I/O ports

Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 (82HG0006US) Keyboard

The Lenovo ChromeBook Flex 3 has a quality keyboard that is above average for a low-cost laptop and has keycaps that are reasonably durable. The Lenovo 82HG0006US Chromebook has the typical Chromebook layout, which is a little different from that of Windows PCs and Macs aside from an additional lock key. The extra-large Ctrl and Alt keys will satisfy your need for Windows and Command, respectively.

The touchpad has a good amount of space, is sufficiently strong, clicks precisely, and exhibits very little unwelcome flex in the corners.

There are three I/O inputs on the device: a USB-C port, an HDMI port, and a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port for attaching external keyboards and thumb drives. A useful addition for Chromebook users who require additional local storage is an SD card reader.

In the meantime, wireless connections include Bluetooth 4.2 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. The most recent Wi-Fi 6 (802/11ax) wireless standard is not supported.

Battery Life of Almost A Day...and Some More

The battery life of the Lenovo Flex 3 Chromebook is sufficient. With a battery life of little over 10 hours, a modern Chromebook, it should be plenty to last you through a day of light browsing.

On the other hand, that level of performance is unattainable from a low-cost system and represents actual all-day battery life. Clearly, there are instances when little is more.
