Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 82HU00JWUS Review And Specification

Undoubtedly one of the greatest midrange convertible laptops available right now is the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 82HU00JWUS. The computational performance of this 2-in-1 laptop is superior to several alternatives that are more than twice as expensive. Additionally, it offers a comfortable keyboard, a strong, well-designed chassis, and a variety of physical connectivity choices.

With an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U graphics card, 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, and an AMD Radeon graphics card, the IdeaPad Flex 5 model we're examining is a true productivity workhorse. Although the Flex 5's 14-inch display might be better and it could weigh less, it's still a fantastic mainstream hybrid laptop at a screamingly amazing price.

Design

The design of entry-level devices from more established companies has improved recently, and the Lenovo Flex 5 is no exception. It's true that it isn't trying to compete with high-end hardware running on an Apple MacBook Pro platform. However, the machine looks nice and doesn't feel cheap.

Despite being made of plastic, the primary chassis feels sturdy and has a typical textured appearance. It is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop with a sturdy 360-degree hinge, and the keyboard is strong and firm with little any bend or bounce. Not the most portable 2-in-1 available, but also not the least, at 3.6 pounds and 0.8 inches thick.

The selection of ports is superb. There is a full-sized HDMI port, a power connector, a headphone jack, and a USB-C port on the left side of the chassis. The latter permits laptop self-charging and lessens the drawback of the barrel connector.

A 4-in-1 card reader that supports full-sized SD cards as well as MMC, SDHC, and SDXC cards is located on the left side along with a pair of USB-A ports. The 720p webcam on the top bezel, which has a physical shutter and support for an add-on digital input pen, is among the other features worth mentioning.

Display

The IdeaPad Flex 5's screen has a weak backlight that has a brightness rating of only 250 nits, which is a drawback that stands out in addition to the somewhat bulky chassis. If you're working in a room that is lighted by natural light, you must set the screen brightness to its highest setting. The display works good in darker spaces, however it may be less visible in brightly lit spaces, like workplaces.

Full HD (1,920 x 1,080-pixel) IPS touch screen with compatibility for the Lenovo Digital Pen is featured on the 15-inch panel. The Lenovo pen is an optional accessory that has two programmable buttons and 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. In contrast to the built-in digital pens found with high-end 2-in-1s like the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex and the Lenovo Yoga C940, this makes it a full-fledged stylus.

While integrated pens are less likely to go lost and can be charged through a slot built into the notebook, they are often smaller and less comfortable when used for prolonged sketching sessions.

Keyboard & Touchpad

The illuminated keyboard is cozy, and typing on it is a delightful experience because to the sturdy key switches. It's the same experience you get from the Lenovo IdeaPad S145; both offer excellent typing experiences that won't annoy your coworkers at the office thanks to their good key travel, resistance, and key spacing. A set of specialized media keys for surfing, volume, and screen brightness are also included on the keyboard.

Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 82HU00JWUS Keyboard

A decent trackpad with good feel to the touch and more give in the bottom left and bottom right, where the left and right buttons are, is located beneath the keyboard. It has a similar solid feel to that of the Apple MacBook Pro 13, but it is a bit stiff and occasionally inaccurate.

A Battery's Life

Battery life may occasionally suffer in order to reduce costs at this pricing point. However, Asus included a sizable 52.5Wh battery with the Flex 5. That equals to 12 hours of movie playback and roughly 10 hours of harder work. That is sufficient power for a whole day at the office or for watching a large number of movies on a long flight.

However, the ability to charge over USB-C makes it possible to 'borrow' some juice if you run out in the middle of a project.
