Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3CZ Review And Specification

Acer Aspire 5 A515-56-36UT Review And Specification

Acer's US website lists over 50 distinct configurations for the Aspire 5, including 17.3-inch and 15.6-inch displays with both AMD and Intel processors. The Aspire 5 is available with a wide range of different models and features. And you might even find the 14-inch entry-level models if you go down farther.

Today, we're going to be looking at the Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3CZ, a 15-inch low-cost laptop featuring a quad-core AMD Ryzen 7 3700U processor, a full HD IPS screen, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage, and pre-installed Windows 11 home.

The Aspire 5 is unquestionably one of the greatest inexpensive laptops for standard web browsing and productivity chores, but it's obviously not the most capable laptop "for accelerated photo editing and video editing performance" that Acer claims on paper.

Design

The Acer Aspire has a similar appearance to its high-end competitor, the MacBook Pro, with a small, elegant, and subtle design that appeals to the eye without being unduly showy. With its incredibly smooth surface, the aluminum lid fits perfectly against the chassis when closed and holds a solid grip. First thing you notice when you open it is the thin black bezel that surrounds the screen.

At the very least, this laptop has a readily accessible motherboard and is easily upgradable, despite its thickest point measuring 0.7 inches. The package's total weight is 3.99 pounds, which is a little bit more than that of its 15-inch brother but still manageable for daily use in college and for carrying about the house.

Excellent port selection is made. You get two USB 3.2 ports, one USB 2.0 port, and one USB-C port for your contemporary devices for your peripherals. Additionally, there is a Kensington Lock connector, an HDMI port for an external display, an Ethernet port for hardwiring, and a standard headphone jack. Wi-Fi 6 is used for wireless communication.

Display

Budget laptops these days almost often have a 1080p display, and the 15.6-inch display continues that pattern. Even though the matte screen occasionally catches glare from outside light, it will do the job. Although it is quite dull on average (259 nits), it is brighter than the Asus VivoBook 15 and Lenovo Yoga C740, which have average brightness levels of 247 nits and 251 nits, respectively.

However, the Aspire 5 screen can be a little uncomfortable in really strong light. Nevertheless, the screen is good for working at night. More color saturation on the screen adds liveliness to otherwise lifeless surroundings. The Acer Aspire 5 A515-45-R74Z is a great device for web browsing and movie watching, but for photo editing and media creation, you may want to consider an external display for improved color reproduction.

Keyboard & Touchpad

Acer Aspire 5 A515-56-36UT Keyboard

One of the few things on the 15-inch Acer Aspire 5 specs sheet that you'll appreciate is the full-sized keyboard, which has a number pad for easy data entering. The large size of the keyboard makes it much more comfortable for little hands to use for multitasking, even though it is comfortable enough for typing. Because of its soft backlighting, which is similar to that of Apple's MacBook Pro computers, you may use it in low light.

Acer aims to match the aluminum finish of the trackpad to that of the chassis. The touchpad has an integrated fingerprint reader, but you may need to disable multitouch gestures because the touch-drag feature can be difficult to operate. Unexpectedly, there is a Function key that disables the trackpad—especially for extended periods of time spent typing.

Battery Life

It turns out that the battery in the Acer Aspire 5 performs better than the one in the model from last year, which was somewhat disappointing. Although Acer states that it can run for eight hours on a single charge, in actual use, you can get slightly less than seven, which is still quite good.
